Our approach
The hidden math of memory: How we build brands that stick
In Alice in Wonderland, Lewis Carroll was entertaining children, but he was also rebelling against major changes in math. At the time, Euclidean geometry rules were giving way to abstract concepts that defied traditional logic. As a mathematician, Caroll (his real name was Charles Dodgson), found this unsettling. He used Alice’s journey, where size constantly shifts and logic bends, to mirror his own frustration with a world moving beyond the certainty of numbers. But buried within his satire was a deeper truth: proportions matter. Whether Alice is too tall or too small, the right balance is what helps her find her way.
This same principle applies to memory. Not every detail in a story, a presentation, or a business message needs to be intense. Too much surprise or novelty can be disorienting. Too little, and the message fades. The secret is proportion: knowing which moments should stretch and which should shrink. At Enhancive, we use neuroscience research to help businesses find that balance, ensuring their content is not just seen but remembered.
Fractals, patterns and memorable content
Carroll wasn’t alone in seeing the world through patterns. Nature itself is built on them. Think of a snowflake, a seashell, or the branches of a tree. These are fractals, meaning shapes that repeat in ever-smaller patterns, maintaining the same proportions at any level of magnification. We don’t consciously register their complexity, yet we find them beautiful, mesmerizing, and oddly familiar. That’s because our brains are wired to recognize proportions that feel “just right.”
Memorable content works the same way. If every slide in a presentation is trying to impress, none will stand out. If every moment in a speech is dramatic, the impact flattens. The key is variation: a framework where some ideas are simple and familiar while others break the pattern just enough to capture attention. This is how we help businesses craft content that lingers in people’s minds: by weaving together structure and distinctiveness, familiarity, and surprise in just the right ratio.
A hidden tail
in a fractal world
Look closely at our logo. Hidden within its fractal design is a nod to the Cheshire Cat’s tail: a small detail, easy to miss, but once you see it, you won’t forget it. In Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, the Cat doesn’t vanish all at once. His body disappears, but his grin lingers, defying logic in a way that amused Carroll and frustrated mathematicians of his time. It’s a perfect metaphor for memory because not everything needs to be fully present to leave a lasting impression. That’s the kind of design we help create. With us, you don’t have to stress about making every single piece of content work hard. We’ll help you weave in just the right moments so your message becomes impossible to ignore.
Blending science, storytelling and aesthetics
Just as Alice in Wonderland (the book) inspired our philosophy, Alice in Wonderland (the movie) influenced our visual identity. Tim Burton’s adaptation is a world of striking contrasts, which are deep, moody landscapes clashing with vibrant bursts of color, whimsical details set against a backdrop of chaos. It is a world where the ordinary bends into the extraordinary, where bold choices stand out precisely because of the subtleties surrounding them.
The color palette of our brand draws from this visual storytelling, including warm golds and fiery oranges juxtaposed with deep shadows and cooler hues, evoking both wonder and structure. Much like the Red Queen, whose stark contrasts and dramatic presence command attention, our design approach ensures that key moments shine against a carefully crafted backdrop. The fractal-like movement in our logo reflects the swirling energy of these scenes, mirroring the way memory works, meaning that certain elements fade while others are making a mark.
Balancing the familiar and the unexpected, our approach to content design follows the same philosophy as these cinematic moments. Whether in storytelling, presentation design, or communication strategy, we help businesses create content that doesn’t just pass through the mind but stays…much like the Cheshire Cat’s grin, even when the rest disappears.
